Cynthia Kerson, PhD, BCN, BCB
is the Clinical Director of Marin Biofeedback

Last year, in addition to directing Marin Biofeedback, Cynthia is featured in the new book, BUZZ: A Year of Paying Attention as the neurofeedback therapist who worked with the author, Katherine Ellison, and her son. She is also involved in a study that measures ADHD and normal brains while resting and doing a cognitive task using EEG. ERP and fMRI measures. In her position as Executive Director of the ISNR Research Foundation, she continues to work with the ISNR-RF Board members to obtain funding through private and govenrmental granting sources. She is also currently working with the Collaborative Neurofeedback Project in which neurofeedback will be investigated in the treatment for child and adolescent ADHD.
Dr. Kerson is a mentor for the BCIA board certification program and a member of the BSC, SABA, AAPB and ISNR. Additionally, Cynthia is currently the past-president of the Biofeedback Society of California and was their Executive Director from 2004-2008. Cynthia is on the Board of Directors of the Behavioral Medicine Foundation. She was the the Executive Director of the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research from 2006 till 2011. She is SABA credentialed and is also on the Board of Directors of the QEEG Certification Board. Cynthia is also the Managing Editor for NeuroConnections, the joint newsletter of ISNR and the AAPB Neurofeedback Division.
Cynthia has appeared on Channel 7 News, the Seeing Beyond radio program, and the In The Spirit of Healing television talk show. Her work was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, Common Ground Magazine and Alternative Medicine magazine. She is the EEG Expert for the popular television program MythBusters.
Cynthia earned her PhD in Applied Psychophysiology in 2008 at the University of Natural Medicine where her dissertation involved training specific brain waves to mediate anxious behaviors. She specializes in combining neurofeedback and biofeedback training for learning disabilities, hypertension, pain, depression and anxiety. Cynthia is certified in both biofeedback and neurofeedback. She has trained with Katee Wynia, MA, Barry Sterman, PhD and Julian Isaacs, PhD. In 2003, she completed her Master's degree in humanistic psychology through Sonoma State University under the supervision of Eleanor Criswell, EdD. Her thesis is entitled Comparing Neurofeedback, Electrodermal Activity and Self Report: A study in Psychological and Physiological Interactions.
